Compassion, Action, Change

Are you going through a difficult time and need extra support? Are you concerned about someone? Would you like to learn how you can reach out to others in your community?

If you are in distress, there are many people who care. You are not alone and support is available. There are many ways that you can support others and show that you care.

UCSC Cares is an online resource dedicated to promoting positive mental health at UC Santa Cruz. We want to initiate dialogue and raise awareness about common mental health issues among college students. Our mission is to decrease unnecessary stigma and prevalence of mental health concerns, and increase positive help-seeking behaviors in college students. We provide information on effective coping strategies and treatment options, as well as connect college students, faculty, and staff to helpful resources. Our hope is that through this open forum, students will be able to give and receive support in a caring environment.

The California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) is an organization of county governments working to improve mental health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.  Prevention and Early Intervention programs implemented by CalMHSA are funded through the voter approved Mental  Health Services Act (Prop. 63).  Prop. 63 provides the funding and framework needed to expand mental health services to previously underserved populations and all of California’s diverse communities.

The University of California, Santa Cruz, along with the other nine University of California campuses aim to reduce the number of college suicides, raise awareness about mental health issues, promote wellness and positive stress management, and reduce stigma and discrimination for those living with a mental illness.
